This set is most definitely a rare find. By Royal Standard in the "Patricia" pattern or shape featuring a border of beige speckling that is trimmed on the edge of the plates in gold with the inside framed by colorful, green, yellow and purple flowers. Truly a unique pattern. I have been unable to locate it through any of the research.A little bit about Royal Standard that might help date the pieces takes us back to sometime around 1949 when Thomas C. Wild and William Thomas Chapman produced Royal Standard China. In my research I found it interesting that Thomas Wild and his family owned Royal Albert Works and this set is very similar to pieces produced by Royal Albert, which actually was the foundry that Royal Standard was produced. It seems that Royal Doulton took over Chapman Longton LTD around 1969.
The 5 piece set includes an 8" x 8.5" (with handles) square tea cake, muffin or cookie plate with a matching set of 4 - 6" square plates. It is in nearly mint condition with very minor signs of use or wear. Some very slight scratches which appear to be more shelving/storage scratches and the most minor wear to the gold rim. No chips, cracks, crazing or discoloration noted.
A beautiful set for a quaint afternoon gathering for tea and tidbits.
