NOTE:
This low-profile model smoke detector was only made in 2008 and was discontinued shortly after.  The product was readily available, until around 2014, at which time the inventory was seriously depleted. Since then, the limited availability and desirable design has pushed the price way up.
There are still many people that desire the minimalist design and will pay a premium to continue to have these devices in their homes for another 10-years.  If this is not you, and the price deters you from purchasing, please move on.
For those that are still interested, but concerned about the longevity, please know that there are no expiration dates for these detectors. They do have a manufacturer date stamped on the label (all ranging around mid-2008), but that has nothing to do with how long they will last.  The built-in 10-year alarm timer does not start until power is applied to the unit, which means that, if installed today, these units would last until 2031. There is a label on the back for the installer to write down the 'install date' and that would, in essence, determine the expiration date.
