Vintage Flacon Chauve Souris (The Bat) Baccarat bottle with a drilled stopper and the original box! This bottle also still has the spill cloth that came with the bottle when it was first sold. This has been one of my favorites and it is absolutely beautiful! It is like a time capsule since it is in such nice shape. It has been refrigerated for more than 20 years.
The approximate measurements of the bottle are:
5 3/4" Tall x 4 1/8" Wide x 1 3/4" Deep
Some fantastic features of this bottle include:
The stopper is blue/purple/pink iridescent and changes color depending on how it’s held. It also has the drilled hole for the tie-down string, which dates it to be from the 1920s. The gold lettering is still in fantastic shape.
The opening has some minor roughness and it could just be bubbles that were exposed when the opening was ground.
The stopper has some extremely minor roughness and they could also just be bubbles of air that were exposed when the plug was ground.
The parfum has some sediment floating in it as expected due to age. It smells phenomenal!
The black paint on the raised "Shalimar" letters and on the raised edge of the paper label on front of the bottle has worn off some on right side.
There is a TINY rough spot on the base in one place and it is too small for us to be able to capture it clearly in a photo.
The box has some scratches as shown. The hinge still works perfectly.
Overall, the bottle and box are both in
outstanding
shape given they are nearly 100 years old and the parfum smells
