With 300 American Made US Steel Needles Free
The Kent Lateral Adapter and Victor Talking Machine No.2 Soundbox-Reproducer are in excellent condition and have been expertly serviced in our shop. These components allow you to play the more common laterally recorded records (e.g. Victor, Columbia, Brunswick, Silvertone, Bluebird, Decca, etc.) on your Edison Diamond Disc Phonograph. Without this adapter your Edison Diamond Disc Phonograph Reproducer can only be used to play vertically recorded Edison Diamond Discs. We are also including 300 Brand New US Made Steel Needles (100 Loud, 100 Medium, and 100 Soft) for your enjoyment. We guarantee your satisfaction with the quality and performance of this part. Please take your time and study the information presented here and feel free to ask questions. All of this work was performed by me, Walt Sommers, and my son, owners of Gettysburg Antique Phonographs in the Gettysburg, Pennsylvania area.
    IMPORTANT
: Other sellers have sold similar adapters with reproducers and have included so-called "muli-play needles" boasting they can be used for hundreds or even thousands of plays! This may be well intended, but it is bad information that will lead to the destruction of your records! Those sorts of "multi-play" and "long lasting" needles were made in the 1930s and later and were designed to be used with electronic phonographs and amplifiers that have light weight tone arms and crystal or magnetic phonograph cartridges/pickups with tracking masses in the 10 to 12 gram (or less) range. They cannot be safely used with older phonographs for multiple plays because the tracking mass required to produce sound acoustically (i.e. without electronic amplifiers) is approximately 120 to 150 grams (approximately 10 times heavier!). Mass means wear! If you use those needles you WILL quickly destroy your records. It is a simple fact of physical science. But unscrupulous sellers do not care about science. reality, you, or your records. They only want your money which is a very sad state of affairs. It is imperative that you use good quality steel needles that are intended to play one side of a record and that is why I include 300 at no charge to you. Save your records! Use a needle once and then replace it as you should!
I have been collecting and servicing antique phonographs, radios, and other mechanical antiques for over 45 years. My son recently started collecting and working in the shop. We operate our shop on a full time basis, so if you need advice, parts or help with a broken motor, missing knob, damaged reproducer, damaged cabinet finish, etc., please feel free ask questions. We might just be able to help. Dozens of very skilled people have shared their knowledge with us over the years to help us become accurate and proficient phonograph conservators. Sharing knowledge and information is part of helping this, and future, generations of owners and collectors. If you have questions about the processes we use to service phonographs, please feel free to ask questions. We always guarantee our work because you, our customer, deserves the assurance. The quality of our work comes from the constant study of actual antique phonographs as well as from historical documents. If you always look at history for help, you will always find the best possible answers for any problems you encounter.
