    Description

    This portfolio consists of a large number of samples of historic and classical wallpaper designs published by B. T. Batsford, Architectural and Scientific Books of London. The attached label indicates that this portfolio was in use in the Upholstery and Decorative Department of Cheney Brothers.
    Each print measures approximately 11” x 14” and features designs from 13

    century Venice, 16

    century Genoa, 16

    th
    century Turkey, 14
    th
    century Flemish, etc.
    Each sample is in wonderful full color and the grouping is contained within a sturdy green fold-over cover. The prints are in very good condition, although there is some fraying caused by the opening and closing of the cover over the years.
    The prints are unnumbered but there are probably 100 or so different. No date, but I would estimate the 1930’s.
    A wonderful historic look at wall paper over the ages and how various designs were still in print (albeit reproductions).
