    Description

Genuine Lamproite soil sample (lightly washed) from the Crater of Diamonds State Park near Murfreesboro, Arkansas, the only recognized authentic diamond mine in the USA.  I personally collected this soil at the mine.  I quickly washed it and did not thoroughly look it for diamonds. Appx. one pound.  Primarily lamproite soil but may contain fragments of other native rocks and minerals.  For many years, the outcropping at the mine was called Kimberlite but more recently, it has been reclassified as Lamproite.  Both types of rock can contain diamonds and the outcropping at the Crater of Diamonds State Park definitely contains diamonds. This soil sample is from decayed and eroded down Lamproite.  Lamproite  is the rock that brought the diamonds to the surface.
On September 23rd, 2020, a 9.07-carat diamond was found at the Crater of Diamonds State Park in Arkansas.  This soil sample came from the West drain area of the mine.
UPDATE:  Several other multi carat diamonds have been found at the Crater this past summer.  The Fall or Spring is an excellent time of the year to visit the Crater of Diamonds State Park.
NOTE:  This is a geological soil sample, not intended to be a diamond prospecting gimmick like many listings on eBay.
