It was formed in 1836, and the earliest predecessor line was the Boston & Lowell Railroad. It was acquired in 1983 by Guilford Transportation and is now part of the Pan Am Railways network. For auction is a passenger timetable for trains operating between Boston, Winchester, and Lowell. It is dated September 1, 1970. These trains also served Wedgemere, Cross Street, Wilmington and North Billerica.
