    Description

    Timetable of freight and passenger rail service from ELMIRA TO CORNING is dated B. 4th March, 1850. The New York and Erie Railroad service began in Elmira, New York, on October 2, 1849. Trains from Elmira stopped at the depots at Junction (Horeseheads ?), Big Flats and Corning, 17 3/4 miles distant. The timetable is printed on a single sheet measuring 4 1/2 x 7" and is in good, clean condition. It was removed from an album and oil from the adhesive stickers used as hinges have stained the timetable at the top edge, left and right. The sticker remnants remain on the reverse. The timetable was folded horizontally at center. The letterpress type used in printing the timetable has made a deep impression into the paper. Both sides of this timetable are shown enlarged in the scans.
